If one double-prong belt pin enters its hole while the other misses, stop tightening and reset the strap. Check that you are using a matching pair of openings and that the belt is flat. Do not wear it with only one pin engaged as a workaround.

Take the pressure off the buckle
Unfasten the belt and inspect it off the trousers. Lay the strap in its normal route through the frame, without stretching it sideways. Keep both pins clear while finding the intended pair of holes.
Look at the openings from both sides. One may be hidden by a fold, blocked by fabric or damaged. A diagonally selected pair is not equivalent to the two openings designed to align across the strap.
The paired-hole layout on JASGOOD’s Full Grain Heavy Duty Work Leather Belt illustrates the arrangement. Use your own model’s instructions; the example does not establish compatibility with a different strap.

Separate alignment from damage
- If both pins align with the belt off, check the threading route and tension while worn.
- If they miss the pair even with the strap flat, inspect the frame, pins and original attachment.
- If an opening has split or stretched badly, stop using that area and seek an assessment.
Do not bend a pin to meet a hole, widen an opening with a tool or punch a new hole beside an existing pair. Those changes can hide the mismatch without restoring the intended fastening.
Re-thread the trousers before trying again
Check every loop, especially the one behind the hip. A twisted section can pull one strap edge higher than the other as you bring the buckle together.
Fasten at a comfortable setting with the waistband resting at its intended rise. If both ends only meet under a strong pull, recheck the belt size instead of concentrating on the pins alone.
Look at the finished engagement
Both pins should be in their intended openings before the frame settles. Arrange the tail through its keeper, then sit and stand gently. Stop if one pin repeatedly lifts out or the strap twists.
For example, an alignment problem that disappears after correcting a half-turn at the back loop needs no new holes. A bent frame that prevents alignment on a table needs a different response.
Provide useful information for a repair question
Photograph the relaxed buckle from the front and back, plus the pair of holes you use. Tell the seller whether the components are original and whether the problem occurs off the trousers.
Keep any removed parts together if the maker asks you to detach them. Do not mix a spare buckle into the assembly until its attachment and hole spacing have been confirmed.
